Munktellstaden, Eskilstuna SE, 2007
This brownfield project involves the conception and design of housing, workplaces and services in a former industrial area located on a beautiful site by the river Eskilstunaån. The strategic aim of the development of the 400.000 m2 area is to open a new development axis north of the city centre. The scheme is based on: 1) the re-use of industrial buildings, 2) the principle of low-rise but dense urban structure, 3) the use of the river as an attraction and 4) a carefully laid out network of public spaces.
