In this project we research factors that make infill building possible. We study the enabling of a sustainable, denser urban structure by attractive, cost-efficient and programmatic regenerating building. The purpose is to develop cooperation between cities and contractors. By ‘programmatic’ we here refer to large construction activities, which are based on long-term anticipation and strategically directed procedures and negotiations of infill buildings, in which different stakeholders (politicians, officials, construction companies, real estate companies and real estate owners) become involved. Attractive infill building can raise the status of a housing area by improving the quality of the immediate environment. Answering to the interests of the stakeholders through the methods of ‘research by design’, we speed up the processes required for building to begin.
